same story is applying my friend, get more interesting with your shots, its like your a tourist walking around shooting random things from standard angles and then over tone mapping em.
to each their own, i totaly understand but i also know what your trying to do and what you can do.
so get crazy and go easy on the light smoothing lol.

other wise try tilting the camera to align the frame with the side of a subject your shooting.
